QUEM SOMOS
Formado por João Rocha (piano) e Paula Gândara (voz), o Duo Rocha Gândara se dedica ao universo da canção. Por julgar minimamente compreender a imensidão de tal universo, o duo se permite incluir elementos da literatura Luso-Brasileira, poesia, dança, artes cênicas e, naturalmente, da música em suas performances. A ideia é a de se capturar e mesclar elementos do cancioneiro Brasileiro e Português, ao mesmo tempo em que se deixa influenciar pelo lirismo e expressividade da música clássica.
Após sua criação em 2017, o duo iniciou suas atividades apresentando-se em recitais nos EUA. No verão de 2019, o duo já realizaria sua primeira turnê pela Europa, ocasião na qual puderam se apresentar em casas de show de prestígio, como o Reduta Café na cidade de Praga, na República Tcheca, assim como no belo Palácio Foz na capital Portuguesa, Lisboa.
Durante os meses de Novembro e Dezembro de 2022, o duo realizou uma nova turnê, desta vez em terras Brasileiras. O duo apresentou o espetáculo “No Reflexo Do Tempo – Canções De Maria” em colaborações com grupos de câmara como o octeto vocal formado por regentes e integrantes de corais da Baixada Santista, assim como o Quinteto de Cordas da Orquestra de Câmara da Universidade de São Paulo e o Quinteto de Cordas formado por membros da Camerata Jovem Santista e da Orquestra Sinfônica de Santos.
Em 2023, o Duo Rocha Gândara se prepara para uma série de recitais nos EUA, assim como uma nova turnê pelo Brasil no final do ano.

ABOUT
The Duo Rocha Gândara is formed by Paula Gândara (voice) and João Rocha (piano). The Duo dedicates itself to the universe of songs. The belief that such universe is rich and full of possibilities allows the Duo Rocha Gândara to mix elements of Brazilian and Portuguese Literature, Poetry, Dance, and, naturally, Music within its compositions and performances. The main idea is to capture and blend elements of the Luso-Brazilian songbook and folklore while also making use of the classical music lyricism and expressivity.
After the begining of its activities in 2017, the Duo has been performing in concerts and recitals, as well as giving masterclasses throughout the USA. In 2019, the Duo went for its first European tour, occasion in which they had the opportunity to perform in prestigious venues such as the Reduta Café in Prague (Czech Republic) and the Palácio Foz in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
During the months of November and December of 2022, the Duo Rocha Gândara went for its Brazilian Tour. In this occasion, the Duo performed exclusively its "On the Reflexion Of Time" show.
Other than the regular voice and piano recital format, this tour brought the opportunity for the Duo to collaborate with other chamber music artists such as the University Of São Paulo Chamber Orchestra's String Quintet. The tour final show also counted with a String Quintet formed by members of the Santos Symphony Orquestra and the Santos Youth Camerata. The show also counted with a group of voices composed by conductors and members of Santos' choirs.
For 2023, the Duo Rocha Gândara is preparing for a series of recitals, masterclasses, and concerts in the USA, as well as a new tour in Brazil during November-December 2023, when the duo will collaborate not just with Brazilian artists, but also symphony orchestras.
